Rehearsals Come to Silicon Valley

The Jim Ott Brass Ensemble rehearsals are expanding to include Silicon Valley for those who can’t make the trek to Stockton!

Starting Tuesday, April 15, and continuing for every other week, there will be JOBE rehearsals at the Stanford University Band Room (thanks to JOBE Member / Stanford Band Member Joe Lewis!). Horns-up at 6:30pm and we’ll end at 9pm.

All of the rehearsal information is on the JOBE calendar at www.jimottbrass.org/calendar.

We can’t wait to see some old friends and new faces!

Corporate Name Change

The Board of Directors have unanimously voted to change the name of our non-profit Corporation.  After filing the paperwork with the state, we will now officially be known as “Ott Entertainment Inc.”.

This name change was made to reflect the change from the previous focus of the organization, named “Sight and Sound for Summer Youth”.  New Bylaws were also approved to reflect this name change, and to reflect the new structure of the Board of Directors.

Jim Ott Brass Ensemble Plans for DCI 2015!

The Jim Ott Brass Ensemble is excited to announce that we are in discussions with Drum Corps International to perform at multiple venues in Indianapolis, Indiana during the 2015 Drum Corps International World Championships.

Jim Ott was a very gifted arranger and instructor, working with many Drum Corps such as the Blue Devils, the Spirit of Atlanta, Garfield Cadets, Madison Scouts, the Hawthorne Caballeros, as well as his “home Corps” of the Stockton Commodores.

2015 is the 35th anniversary of the passing of Jim Ott, who tragically died in an automobile  accident.  2015 is also the 20th anniversary of Jim’s induction into the Drum Corps International Hall of Fame.  With the recent formation of the Jim Ott Brass Ensemble, and aided with the assistance of Rick Odello of the Concord Blue Devils, and also a DCI Hall of Fame Member, JOBE is now working closely with DCI to coordinate these performances.

And, it may not be just the founding chapter from Stockton, California, banding together with other Jim Ott chapters such as the Jim Ott Brass Ensemble Third Coast, from Green Bay, Wisconsin, we will present a formidable brass and percussion performance, with the Brass line playing on G-Bugles, performing the original Jim Ott scores.

Stay tuned over the next year and we will keep you updated with any new news with respect to this upcoming spectacular.
